She is just a girl Empty She is just a girl

She is just a girl

She was a girl with not enough reality
to keep her feet planted on the ground.
She would sink into her fantasies every time
the clock stroke 12, and stay awake
listening to the pulse of her mind
beating against the cage of her imagination.

She was a girl who never realized
that writing poems on her bandages
was pointless, because words
are just words, and in the end
they can’t hold you together – no matter
how much you believed that they would.

She was a girl who made a living by
scribbling her story onto paper napkins
at the school cafeteria, hoping that maybe
someone would come along and read it –
read it and believe in it, believe in her,
because that's really all she wants.

She was a girl with a pulse like
an unstoppable runaway train.
Always dreaming of a perfect ending
like a princess from a Disney fairytale,
who’s story repeats itself without the
constant worries of a sad ending drama.

It won’t matter how much time goes by,
or how many fantasies she dreams of,
or whether she is back to reality or not,
because in the end, she is just a girl.
